Former North Warrnambool Eagles midcourter Brie Reichman will represent Golden South Jaguars in the Queensland competition in 2018.

Reichman, 19, said she was humbled to make the 10-person division one team, particularly given her most recent serious game was in the Hampden league in 2015.

“I don’t know how I did it,” she said from her Burleigh Heads base.

“I saw the team announcement and thought it was a typo and then I thought ‘how did I do that?’

“I had a trial last Sunday and they selected the team on Sunday night. It was very exciting.

“Sixty or 70 girls trialled for two teams, division one and division two.”

Reichman has started training with the Jaguars in readiness for their season-opener in May.

She has full confidence in her knee which she first injured weeks out from North Warrnambool’s 2015 open grade premiership.

“I missed out on the grand final after doing my knee in a school comp,” Reichman said.

“I did my knee twice. The first time I didn’t get surgery. I saw a specialist in Melbourne and built my knee up to get stronger. I was back after seven months in rehab and then did my knee completely and did all the ligaments.”

Reichman spent a year in Melbourne before moving to Queensland in August.

The fitness trainer will spend December at home in Mortlake running NETFIT sessions – a Sarah Wall-run program.

“I made the move to Queensland for a new challenge, life experience and to broaden my horizons,” she said.

“The fitness industy, Queensland is big on it at the moment. I am loving it.

“It’s such a great experience and there are lovely people I am being around. It’s the best thing I’ve done.”
