The level 3 coach was on Wednesday morning announced as the Rebels leader in the newly created role of regional coaching director – a full-time position – and takes over from part-time coach Gerard FitzGerald.
Greig led the Roosters, which has not had its VFL licence renewed, for two seasons and steps into the new position, which also focuses on educating and developing junior coaches in the region, as well as completing administrative tasks for the talent pathway program.
Rebels talent manager Phil Partington said he was looking forward to what Greig would bring to the new role in the region.
“He will bring a vast array of experience to this new role and be able to relate to and understand the needs fo coaches in the region,” Partington said. “Our playing group will also benefit from someone that has been involved at state-league level, and has helped develop a number of former Rebels over recent years in the VFL.”
