Warrnambool signwriting business Cassign has donated $5000 towards the $605,000 community funding target to establish the centre.

Owner David Cassidy said it was a worthy cause.

“We are very happy to be involved with The Lookout as I believe it is needed here in this area,” Mr Cassidy said.

“It’s very important to the community.

“I am happy to donate to it because we can see the benefits for Warrnambool and the Western District.”

Mr Cassidy said addiction did not discriminate and encouraged people to dig deep. 

“I really hope everyone gets on board with The Lookout,” he said.

“Families and children affected by drug addiction did not chose to be.” 

Western Region Alcohol and Drug Centre is also pitching in $600,000 for the rehabilitation facility, which would include 20 beds.

It would be staffed 24 hours, seven days a week.

Community fund-raisers and events, as well as personal contributions from individuals and businesses have made up the donations for The Lookout so far.

WRAD director Geoff Soma said he expected further donations to the campaign to roll in over the coming months.

“It has been absolutely fantastic,” he said.

“The community support has been overwhelming.”

McLaren Hunt Financial Group had also donated a “generous amount”, he said. 

Mr Cassidy also made another $5000 donation to a Leadership Great South Coast Project, to install an all-accessible carousel at a Warrnambool playground on Cramer Street.

“It is just getting finished now,” he said.

He said the carousel came from the Variety charity group, which he had also supported in the past through its Variety bashes.

“I have seen what Variety does, so I was very happy to support them again,” Mr Cassidy said.
