Port Fairy show committee member Isabel McLaren has been involved in the event for 50 years. “I’ve been on the committee for 20 years when the show was struggling, and I've seen it flourish to what it has evolved into today,” she said. “It’s a great deal of work preparing for the show, but the reward on the day is worth it all. We have a small committee who work tirelessly throughout the year. We would love to see everyone come along to enjoy and support the show. It’s a guaranteed great family day out.” Isabel is married to Lou. The pair has two children, Mark and Michelle, and five grandchildren.

What is something people might not know about you? I was a highland dancer in my younger years and I’ve been involved in the Port Fairy Cycling Club for 60 years, although I didn't ride.
If you could choose to go back or forward 100 years what would you do and why? Go back and meet up with our ancestors.
What recipe are you renowned for cooking? Sponge - everyone calls it grandma's sponge.
If you had all the time in the world to pursue and perfect any hobby what would it be? Patchwork quilting.
When and where are you your most happiest? In the garden or Sunday night tea with extended family.
What is the best piece of advice you've been given? A fool and his money are soon parted.
Do you have a motto you live by? The golden rule - do unto others, as they would do unto you.
