It’s understood she is being medicated for her injuries and significant pain in the intensive care unit of the Royal Children’s Hospital.
Her mother said the girl was gradually improving, was drinking now and talking.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the girl suffering life-threatening injuries.

Thursday: WARRNAMBOOL police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a five-year-old girl suffering life-threatening injuries.
The girl, who cannot be named, was flown to the Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital and is in intensive care.
She is suffering serious internal injuries including a lacerated liver and is expected to remain in intensive care for the near future.
It is understood that the girl's father took her to a doctor on Wednesday and was told to take his daughter straight to hospital.
A number of hours later the girl was presented to the accident and emergency department of the Warrnambool Base Hospital.
Assessments found she was suffering a lacerated liver and round bruises of various ages over her body, particularly to her stomach region.
There are significant concerns about her well-being.
Detective Sergeant Danny Wright, of the Warrnambool police sex offences and child abuse investigation team, said an investigation had started, but persons of interest had not been interviewed.
He could not comment further.
