The agenda was simple - "from one to 12 that was not an acceptable performance and something we don't want to happen again".

Hurst says a round two "reality check" hasn't left the Capitals thinking they might as well shut up shop and fall to the back of the pack.

Instead it sparked a meeting that could ignite a Capitals resurgence against the Dandenong Rangers at the National Convention Centre on Sunday.

Gone are the concerns about referees, hectic travel schedules and different climates - now all the Capitals care about is themselves.

"It was to make sure we are all on the same page, to make sure we just do the right things in the game to keep ourselves focused for 40 minutes and not worry about anything else," Hurst said.

"When we're feeling tired, when we're worried about the refs, when we make a turnover that we don't worry about that and hold onto that for two, three, four minutes because it affects the flow on from what we do next.

"That's been happening, that's something we want to get rid of early, and that's why we met early this week."

The Capitals are brimming with young guns that could easily have been down in the dumps after a rough weekend - but Hurst says it hasn't been hard to pick them back up.

Eziyoda Magbegor and Maddison Rocci are the youngest active players on the roster and they've been itching to set the record straight with another epic week of travel on the horizon.

Hurst says Canberra's experienced crop have taken it upon themselves to lead the way as they look to restart their title bid.

"After you get your bum kicked like that, no one wants that to happen again, whether you're 19 or 34. It was definitely not hard to get everyone ready and going for this week's practice," Hurst said.

"We need to make sure we're showing them what they need to be doing so our body language needs to be on point, how we talk needs to be on point and our energy needs to be there so they see 'that's what we need to do as well'.

"The experienced players also chatted about that, to make sure we're showing the young girls exactly what needs to be shown out on the court."

Capitals coach Paul Goriss is adamant things aren't going "pear-shaped or going downhill in any regard", confident Canberra will turn things around on Sunday.

The Dandenong clash kicks off a massive week for the Capitals, who will back up on Wednesday in Adelaide before hosting Townsville two days later.

The Capitals will be forced to overcome an early start with a 6am direct flight to Adelaide on Wednesday, coming home at the same time on Thursday morning.
