The Beavers take confidence into their first Warrnambool and District Cricket Association one-day match of the 2017-18 season against Dennington, having notched three straight twenty20 wins to start their campaign.
McCosh said Wesley-CBC’s bowling attack, led by opener Tom Bowman and left-hand off-spinner Ben Evans, had been crucial.
“We’ve set up games early in the first five or six overs,” he said.
“Our bowling and fielding has been absolutely fantastic so far and has probably been the difference in the games.
“We’ve kept to our plans with our bowling and our fielding has been top-class at the moment. Everyone’s stepped up when they’ve needed to.”
McCosh is aware the one-day format will provide the Beavers with different challenges to overcome.
“With the bat we’ve occasionally lost wickets in clumps and in the longer format you can’t afford to lose wickets in clumps,” he said.
“And we have to keep the bowling pressure on and bowl as many dot balls as we can.”
Wesley-CBC played Dennington in a twenty20 fixture last weekend.
McCosh is wary of the Dogs.
“Their bowling is quite good – they have a lot of length and don’t try and do anything too extreme,” he said.
