Mr Walsh had his beloved dreadlocks shaved off on Wednesday to raise money for a Nepalese school that his grandfather John Walsh has been renovating for the past five years.

His grandfather has also added a new section to the school, which is known as the Nepalese Outreach Children’s Program. 

Mr Walsh was apprehensive prior to his “makeover” and said his dreadlocks were a part of him. 

“I don’t know if I’m sweating because it’s hot, or because I’m nervous,” he said. 

As of Wednesday night an online go fund me page, and donations from his friends had raised $2250 for the cause.

Mr Walsh said when he set out to raise the funds it was to be donated to the school, but since seeing the devastation of August floods in the country, money may also go towards helping flood victims.  

He said $100 Australian dollars was a year’s wage in the country with Nepalese workers monthly earnings around $8 a month.

“I’m just trying to do something to help out.”

Friend and hairdresser Arley Tune conducted the shave which was completed in stages at Birds & Fellas hairdressers in Warrnambool.

The construction worker was animated throughout the shave, which was watched on by a handful of his mates and his grandfather John.

He couldn’t believe how much lighter his head felt after the locks were removed. “I look younger. I thought I’d look older,” he said. 

Mr Walsh said he would have to wear sunscreen on his neck from now on and it was the first time he’d seen his ears in a really long time.
