The Nestles cricketer will play alongside fellow Factory talent Todd White – also new to the state stage – at the January tournament.

Price, 17, was one of 13 players picked in the Jeff Rosolin-coached side.

"I went down to Geelong and did specialist coaching with Bowlstrong,” he said.

“The bloke changed up my action a little bit, just to generate a little bit more pace.

“I’ve been doing a lot of work on my fitness as well because I have had a few back issues in the past, so I’ve tried to minimise that.

“My brother (Matt) has helped a lot and a lot of figures around the club like Gary MacLean and Wizz (coach Geoff Williams).”

Price hopes to “open the bowling and bowl at the death as well” at the state titles.

The right-arm pace bowler believes his height will be an advantage.

“One of the main aspects of my bowling which has really helped me is the fact I am six-foot-six,” he said.

“The selectors tend to like really tall people because they can generate a lot of bounce.”

Rosolin said dedication was a key strength of his Waves’ players.

“What we have done this year is basically picked blokes who are willing to put in the hard work, combined with their skill and talent,” he said.

“A lot of the guys asked for feedback and we gave them feedback and they went away and worked on it.”

Rosolin is happy with the skillset at his disposal.

“We have four or five spinners in the side, so we’ll try to find the best way to exploit that and there’s quite a bit of batting depth as well on paper,” he said.

The Waves’ outfit is loaded with players plying their craft in Victorian Premier Cricket ranks, including Warrnambool and District exports Dominic Bandara, Tommy Jackson, Lachie Field, Brody Couch and Alex Jennings.

Tobi Cook, Jordi Withers, Harry Rooke, Nathaniel Holmes-Brown, Jackson Couch and Damon Cooper also feature.
