Detective Senior Constable Craig Wastell, of the Warrnambool police crime investigation unit, said the unit at a block of flats was burgled between 1pm and 1.45pm while the resident was at a nearby supermarket.
"The resident returned to find a number of items missing including two mobile phones, a laptop computer and a purse," he said.
"The offender has entered through an unlocked front door, the unit was ransacked and items thrown around," he said.
