The Wellness and Life After Cancer Day was well attended with a range of guest speakers talking to cancer survivors.
Among the guest speakers were a dietitian, physiotherapist, psychologist and doctor.
The day was ran by South West Healthcare cancer link nurse Sharna Purcell, South West Regional Cancer Centre survivorship nurse Sarah Ramsdale and Epworth HealthCare Radiation Oncology associate nurse unit manager Kahla Boulton.
Ms Purcell said the Wellness and Life After Cancer Day program, which was developed by the Cancer Council, had a clear focus.
“Things don’t just fall back into place like they were before someone is diagnosed with cancer,” Ms Purcell said.
“Our Wellness and Life After Cancer Day helps survivors, their families. and friends to deal with changes in their lives, at home and at work.”
Ms Purcell said feedback from those that took part in the day was very positive.
“It was a great chance for them to meet people in a similar position and share their stories,” she said.
More sessions are likely to be held in the future.
