Rudolph, who coached the Hampden league club in 2013-14, said Evans “knows footy clubs”.
The pair is hoping it can deliver a premiership – the first since 1958 – to Gardens Oval on Saturday. The Seagulls went winless just six seasons ago.
“He’s won premierships before as a coach,” Rudolph said of former South Rovers mentor Evans.
“Just his stability, his work ethic (helps out). He expects nothing but the best, so I think that’s brought another level. He’s been a rock for the group. His ability to be stable in pressure situations has really helped, especially with some of the young players.”
Rudolph said the Seagulls’ leadership group had high expectations.
“I think that’s really helped and we’ve got a lot of juniors coming through that are starting to catch on,” he said.
