Six Warrnambool bowlers are set to take on the state’s best at the Victorian Junior Country Cup in Morwell on the weekend.
Warrnambool coach Scott Dennis said two of his children – Sean and Bailey Dennis – were set to compete, while Ryan McDonell, Marlee Campbell, Shantelle Rogitsch and Keiara Gruar would also line up.
With Warrnambool set to field a young side, Dennis said the trip was about development.
“We have a very young boys side. Two of our juniors fall into the 11 to 13 age bracket, and they’ll be coming up against players who could be pushing 18,” Dennis said.
“The three girls have been around a bit longer and have played in some country cups.
“It’ll be a really tough competition for us but hopefully the kids enjoy the experience and can find out a bit about themselves as bowlers.”
Dennis hoped exposure to bowlers in a similar age bracket would help the Warrnambool players to improve.
