Mr Fraser has served as interim CEO since the departure of former CEO John Krygger in June.
Mr Fraser has worked at SWH since 2003.
He has filled the roles of executive officer of South West Primary Care, manager of SWH’s community health division and director of primary, community and regional services.
Mr Fraser said he was looking forward to taking on the lead role.
“I’m very excited, it’s an honour to lead South West Healthcare,” Mr Fraser said.
“The organisation has progressed a long way to be the biggest health provider in the region and provides a complexity of care for many communities.”
SWH is hoping to secure the $112 million needed for the completion of its stage two redevelopment.
Mr Fraser said he would be working hard with the SWH executive to put together a master plan so the organisation was ready to go when funding arrives.
