The club will hold a teams duathlon at Warrnambool’s Albert Park complex, which will start with a 6km bike ride, then go onto a 4km run, before repeating the bike and run legs again.
Warrnambool Tri Club president Brett Barker said teams of two would see one person take ownership of the rides and the other complete the run legs.
“This is the first time we’ve run a teams event,” he said. “So far, probably 20 people (have committed), but we’re taking registrations on the day.
“We’re also having kids’ racing.”
Registrations open at 8.30am on Sunday, with the kids’ race set to start at 9am. The main event will follow the conclusion of the kids’ race.
The club will be holding two triathlons at Killarney this season, with the first edition set for October 29.
The second event will close the season on March 25.
“We’ve normally always held the Killarney Triathlon the last weekend in October, but this year, because they’ve put Sufferfest earlier and other things, we thought we’d (also) finish up with the triathlon,” Barker said.
Warrnambool Tri Club’s major event, the Foreshore Triathlon, will be held on February 3.
A successful trial last summer has seen the Off Road Triathlon added to the schedule, set to be raced on November 19 at Lake Pertobe.
The Pairs Triathlon will be held on December 10, while the Aquathon Criterion will be on December 29.
