The men, who live locally, were riding the jet skis on Warrnambool’s Hopkins River mouth about 1pm on Saturday when one of the skis broke down.
Warrnambool police First Constable Aaron Toulmin said the jet ski broke down at the mouth of the Hopkins River. The male riding the other jetski tried to tow him in but they were both swept out to sea.
First Constable Toulmin said one jet ski was beached on the sand and the other man was out in the ocean for a while until the waves brought him and the broken down ski to shore.
“Both jet skis were on the beach and the men were okay when we got there,” First Constable Toulmin said.
He said the men had to recover the jet skis from where they had come to rest on the sand.
“Both men were really lucky and coming into warmer weather people have to be careful around water and take precautions,” he said.
