But if there’s one coaching skill Finch has found transferable to netball, it’s the need to bring intensity come September.
The second-year Camperdown mentor believes his side must match North Warrnambool Eagles’ ruthless style in order to advance to next week’s Hampden league netball grand final.
“If you don’t bring intensity at this time of year, you’re going to struggle,” Finch said.
“We can’t afford to leave anything in the tank. We’re expecting North to be no different to the side we fell short of two weeks ago.
“They’re a good side. They’ve got strengths up and down the court and from one end to the other, it’s going to be a hard contest.
“You’d expect nothing less in a preliminary final.”
North Warrnambool Eagles consigned Camperdown to a two-goal defeat in this season’s qualifying final.
The clash will begin at 1.30pm at Reid Oval.
