The two teams, who finished first and second on the Warrnambool and District ladder, were committed from the start to a tight-scoring game.
After going down by two goals to Old Collegians in the second semi-final, Dennington fought hard to regain top spot.
At the end of the first quarter scores were level with both teams on five goals.
Despite being within eight goals of each other all game, the Warriors were too strong and in the end won 25-21.
Old Collegians coach Jenny Gleeson said while all the girls played well, it was the ends of the court that were “stand-outs”.
“Our goal attack Nessy McLaren was the league’s fairest and best and she was a fairly dominant player,” she said.
“Our goal keeper Monique got player of the match and did a wonderful job, however I would say that they all did a fantastic job.”
Best on court was awarded to 15 year-old Monique Forbes who played goal keeper.
“This is our third grand final,” she said after the game.
“But our first win so we really deserved it.”
Monique attributes connection to the team’s secret of success.
“We all got along so well,” she said.
“Even off the court. And we brought that to our game.”
