All three Warriors junior teams have made their respective grand finals, while the B grade side will be vying for a flag when it takes on Dennington – a club which also has four netball grand final teams.
Old Collegians netball president Trish Porra credited strong netball structures at the club for its ongoing success.
“It’s a great achievement,” she said. “We’ve put pretty good coaches in place … and we like to give our kids the best opportunity going through.
“We’ve always featured pretty heavily in finals … but this year we’ve done a really good job.
“Our coaches have done a really good job and the girls themselves have played as a team and they play for the green and gold.
“(Wednesday) night we decorated the rooms and nearly all the junior netballers were up. When they’re involved like that, it’s a good thing for the club.”
With only one court at the Davidson Oval venue, the Warriors have to share training sessions, with the 13 and under and 15 and under teams working together, as do the 17 and under and B grade teams.
But Porra said the club was actually reaping benefits from it, with the shared court time at training particularly beneficial for the younger teams, who were able to test themselves against an older age group.
“It’s good for the little kids to play against older kids when they have a game at the end of training,” she said. “The same with the 17s when they play against the B graders.”
