Fulmineus defeated Way Of The Storm and Alkaaser in the $25,000 maiden flat highweight race over 2350 metres.
Fisher said Fulmineus only started racing when he was a five-year-old.
“The win was a long time coming,” the Woolsthorpe trainer said.
“He’s been a slow-maturing horse. We have not rushed him – his long term goal is over the jumps.
“He put the writing on the wall for an upcoming flat win with a second-placing last time.
“We’ve qualified him over the jumps. He goes really well at the jumping caper. I’m hopeful he’ll win some next season.”
Victoria’s leading trainer Darren Weir and Caulfield trainer Luke Oliver shared the honours for the meeting with winning doubles on the eight-race program.
