HDLN co-ordinator Geoff Rollinson said the revegetation program had achieved significant change in the landscape, including providing shelterbelts, reducing greenhouse gases and providing biodiversity corridors.
“Thanks to funding from the Corangamite CMA and Landcare Australia Ltd., we’re able to continue the program into 2018,” he said.
The Biofund program is an established project that has the support of many community-based groups and schools who benefit from several programs coordinated by Heytesbury District Landcare Network (HDLN).
Through the project HDLN engages with a wide range of landholders, community members, volunteers and other partners such as Gilson College and Timboon P12 Junior Rangers and Corangamite Shire.
In 2016 the project achievements included 15 hectares revegetated with indigenous vegetation, 35,320 seedlings were planted and 17 landholders were involved in revegetation projects.
Landholders and others wishing to lodge an expression of interest are encouraged to visit HDLN’s website at www.heytesburylandcare.org.au to download forms or to call the office on 5598 3755.
