THE QUEEN OF IRELAND: Mozart Hall, Warrnambool, August 23, 7.30pm. Ireland’s historic marriage equality vote is examined through the life of Irish drag queen Panti Bliss in this doco screened by F Project Cinema.
THE EAGLE HUNTRESS: Hamilton Cinema, August 24, 7.30pm & August 25, 2pm. Hamilton Film Group screens this doco about a Kazakh girl trying to become the first female eagle hunter of her tribe.
BAKERSFIELD MIST: Lighthouse Theatre, Warrnambool, August 25, 8pm. Former Blue Heelers co-stars Julie Nihill and John Wood re-unite for this comedy based on a true story about a woman who accidentally buys a million-dollar painting at an op shop.
WORKSHOP: The Artery, August 26, 1pm. Join Koroit artist Ricky Schembri for these regular pastel art classes.
THE VICEROY’S HOUSE: Reardon Theatre, Port Fairy, September 1pm, 1.30pm & 7.30pm. Port Fairy Film Society hosts these screenings detailing British India’s transition to independence, as seen through the eyes of the nation’s final English viceroy.
ARJ BARKER: Lighthouse Theatre, September 2, 8pm. The American comedian returns with his new show Organic.
THE EXOTIC LIVES OF LOLA MONTEZ: Lighthouse Studio, September 5, 8pm. The 1855 Ballarat goldfields tour of showgirl Lola Montez inspires this cabaret performance.
ELLE: Killara Centre, Camperdown, September 7, 7.30pm. Corangamite Film Society screens Paul Verhoeven’s acclaimed film starring Isabelle Huppert as a woman dealing with the aftermath of a rape.
