EXCITING Warrnambool jumper Two Hats is heading to the spelling paddock after scoring a thrilling nose victory over Chequered Flag in the $125,000 Houlahan Hurdle at Ballarat on Sunday.

Trainer Aaron Purcell said Two Hats will be set for a first-up jumping tilt at the $125,000 Galleywood Hurdle at the Warrnambool May Carnival.
“Two Hats is going straight to the paddock,” Purcell said.
“He’ll be back in work in November and aimed at the Galleywood. His record over hurdles is exceptional having won three of his five starts and the other two starts have resulted in second placings.
“I think he’ll develop into a better steeplechaser.”
Hornets’ Nest trained by Koroit milk bar owner James McNamara ran fourth in the Houlahan.
Meanwhile, the Kathryn Durden trained Wells etched his name into jumping history when he won his third Grand National Steeplechase. Wells joined champion ‘chaser Bashboy as the only two horses to have won the famous race three times. The ten-year-old, who is part-owned by Warrnambool Racing Club chairman Nick Rule, Martin Kavanagh and south-west politician Dan Tehan previously won the National Steeeplechase in 2014 and 2016.
