The Jody Roth-coached outfit is assured a double chance come finals after beating Warrnambool 52-37 in the penultimate Hampden league round on Saturday.
Roth said the Eagles’ back court played a crucial role in the result.
“They played sensational defence,” she said.
“They all work really well together. Rach and Georgia got so many taps and intercepts and Zoe was able to pick them up and bring the ball down the court.”
Roth said she was pleased the Eagles had snapped out of a late-season lull to win the past two matches and book a top-three finish.
“At the start of the season we wanted to make second or third and no matter what happens against Koroit, we’ve achieved that,” she said. “I put the accountability on the girls and they rose to the challenge.”
