Jukebox won his first two runs at Geelong and Caulfield earlier this year before being scratched from the Blue Diamond Stakes in February with feet problems.
The son of Snitzel returns to racing in the $150,000 Vain Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday with top jockey Craig Williams in the saddle.
Maher said he’s happy with how Jukebox has been working in the lead-up to the 1100-metre sprint.
“Jukebox will have standard race tips, instead of glue-on shoes, which he wore last campaign,” he said.
“His feet are in good shape. He’s being working well on the training track. He appears to be a natural sprinter – we’ll get a better idea which path we’ll go down for the spring following the run in the Vain.”
Maher, also saddles up Schism and Here To There on the nine-race program while Aaron Purcell’s top mare Written Era runs in a $100,000 race and Khezerabad resumes for the Warrnambool trainer.
Fellow local trainer Daniel Bowman accepted with Magnapal and Magestic Duke.
Darren Weir’s powerful Warrnambool stable has a strong representation on the card including Black Heart Bart and Humidor among the main hopes in the group two $200,000 Lawrence Stakes.
