McLean’s Guardian Pharmacy in Port Fairy is offering the chance to take part in the trial until the end of August. The trial will cater for 80 people. Places are available for 10 men and women in the age groups of 35-44, 45-54, 55-64 and 65-74.
Pharmacist David McLean said the trial is being ran through a partnership between the University of Sydney and Deakin University.
“It is hoped the trial will lead to better outcomes for diabetes screening,” Mr McLean said.
“Research shows a lot of people have diabetes without knowing.
“The test involves a short quiz and diabetes risk assessment that tells us if the person needs to have a blood prick test to get a blood glucose reading.”
Mr McLean said there are still spots available in the trial, particularly in the younger age groups.
