GALLEYWOOD etched his name into racing history winning the 1986 Grand Annual Steeplechase for late Warrnambool trainer Jocka Baillie.

The popular trainer was remembered again at Coleraine on Saturday when the first starter Jocka’s Truce won a maiden over 1000 metres for a group of owners including Baillie’s wife Judy and daughter Robyn Anderson.
Hamilton trainer Allan Clark, who trains Jocka’s Truce, said the victory was very special for the Baillie family.
Jocka’s Truce is the last horse that Jocka bred before he passed away.

“Jocka’s Truce is the last horse that Jocka bred before he passed away,” Clark said. “It’s wonderful to get the horse to win a race for Judy and Robyn. Jocka was such a respected figure in local racing circles.
“Jocka’s Truce had been galloping well on the track and I gave him a rough chance.” Stan Tsaikos, who has not rode a winner since 2009 after being sidelined with numerous injuries had the winning ride.
