Corangamite Shire installs solar bins to address overloading problems

FOUR solar powered compacting bins have been installed in Corangamite Shire to help with overloading problems during busy periods.

The bins were designed to provide additional space, without increasing the number of bins or collection services.

The bins compact the litter inside when it reaches a trigger level which allows a 120 litre waste bin to have up to seven times the amount of rubbish in the bin. Two bins have been installed at the main toilets in Skipton and in Lismore.
