East Warrnambool last week appealed the Warrnambool and District Football Netball League’s decision to strip the Bombers of $250 and under 17.5 premiership points after it fielded an overage player.
The appeal was unsuccessful.
The Standard understands the player was also named as an under 17.5 substitute in two senior fixtures.
As this was discovered in AFL Western District’s investigation into the matter, it has been referred back to the WDFNL executive for ruling.
However, AFL Victoria rules stipulate the club could face a mininum fine of $500, reversal of match points and the loss of all points for (goals and points) scored in the match concerned.
The Bombers may also be subjected to further penalties as decided by the league.
East Warrnambool and the Warrnambool and District Football Netball League declined to comment.
