Captain Isaac Templeton and stalwart Ben Goodall were solid in their first games back on Saturday, while Daniel Harrington made an encouraging return from hip surgery through the reserves.
Saints coach Chris McLaren said the club hoped Harrington would be in the mix for senior selection nearer to finals.
“Hopefully now we just get some games into him in a row and get some match fitness in him,” McLaren said.

McLaren also expects Saints’ 2016 leading goalkicker Will Couch, who underwent the same hip surgery as Harrington, to play his first match of the season against Warrnambool on August 5, also making his way back through the reserves.
Tom Mugavin will likely make his way back from a knee injury this Saturday against Hamilton Kangaroos.
The Saints, who are aiming for a remarkable fourth consecutive premiership, have won their past 10 matches.
Koroit is set to host the Hamilton Kangaroos – who have won just one game this season against Terang Mortlake – on Saturday.
