The teacher was among a group of 23 writers at Warrnambool Book’s authors showcase at Deakin University on Sunday. 

Porter created the Crazy Relief Teacher series and the fifth book will be published around term four.

“I had the idea when I was teaching in Geelong,” he said. “A relief teacher came into the classroom next door dressed as a cowboy and started singing songs.”

The book with Chiocci will come out in January, in time for the start of the AFLW second season.

He said it would be great to have books in libraries for girls about football, co-authored by a female.
