Roos coach Matt Dunn was optimistic Feely had avoided a tear and would not miss too much football.
“We lost Tom Feely in the first quarter with a hamstring – he’s obviously been our standout player this year,” Dunn said.
“In that second half when we needed somebody to give us a spark, he would’ve been ideal.”
The Blues made sure they were celebrating in Andrew McCarthy’s 250th game, bouncing back after a flurry of goals to the Kangaroos in the second quarter saw the teams go into half-time on level pegging.
The Blues booted 3.8 to 0.3 in the third term and finished with 2.1 to 1.4 in the last for a solid win.
“At half-time we just asked the question again about where we were going,” Warrnambool coach John Cook said.
“We were able to find a little bit in the third quarter to get 23 points up.
“Daniel Weymouth started to dominate in the ruck – I think he rucked the entire third quarter – and took so good marks around the ground.
“Our midfielders started to get first to the ball, all those things you hear so often about our wins (started to fall in place).”
The only injury concern to come out of the game for Warrnambool was Mikey Billings, who sustained a knock to his knee.
