He discussed the Warrnambool sporting venue’s redevelopment plan with key stakeholders on Friday, which the state government has chipped in $100,000 for design works.
Commenters on The Standard’s Facebook page called on the Premier to visit the Warrnambool Special Developmental School, and fund stage two of the city’s hospital.
“How about supporting the special school. The trains have got their funding where as the school missed out and they need it the most,” Alana June Rylance said.
Roads were another hot issue, with commenters questioning why Mr Andrews flew to the south-west.
“Put him in the driver's seat of a car and get him to go for a drive,” David O'Brien said. “He will learn first-hand what the condition of the roads are like.”
A spokesman for South West Coast MP Roma Britnell said Mr Andrews did not announce any new funding.
“It’s not surprising there was no new information – his whole visit was designed to tick a box so he can say he’s been to Warrnambool,” he said. “Rather than tackle the hard issues our region faces like the condition of our roads and the urgent need for the new Special Developmental School to be built, the Premier instead talked about previously announced projects.”
