Just three points, the equivalent of one win, separates the fifth-placed rangers and ladder leaders Sebastopol Vikings.
“If we can get two more wins from our next two matches, which are against teams below us on the ladder, then (perform well in) games against teams that are around us on the ladder, we can get to first and make a push for finals,” Rangers coach Cameron Pyke said.
The Rangers put in a strong effort against Victoria Park at Jones Oval on Saturday, with the returning Ryan Bail scoring a hat-trick, the first goal coming in the 11th minute after solid build-up from the team. Ryan Andrews also scored a goal in the 57th minute. Pyke said the Rangers were unlucky to concede a goal from a penalty.
The Rangers women also enjoyed a win on Sunday, defeated Forrest Rangers 4-0.
