The club will officially open its revamped boatshed on Sunday, after works to raise the floor to prevent flooding were completed.
Before the renovations, boats and equipment had to be moved off the floor and lower racks to keep them out of the murky water.
The boatshed inundated annually, usually from February until August, when the Hopkins River mouth closed. The club has filled the base of the shed and poured a new concrete floor, put a door into the existing clubrooms/gymnasium and refurbished the fittings. The facility is now accessible all year.
The plans for the upgrades were donated by former rower Barry Wilson and funding for the works came from Gwen and Edna Jones, the Ray and Joyce Uebergang Foundation and the club.
The club is having an opening at 11am at the boatshed on Simpson Street, to thank the donors and to celebrate with the community and past and present rowers.
