The train line’s punctuality rate rose to 64.6 per cent in June, up from a low of 12.6 per cent in January.
However, the figure was still missing the mark, falling well below the target of 92 per cent.
V/Line CEO James Pinder acknowledged there was still room for improvement, and credited works upgrading level crossings with better travel times.
“The removal of some temporary speed restrictions has contributed to the increase in punctuality,” Mr Pinder said.
“A $10 million package of works is currently underway to upgrade 20 level crossings on the line so that all trains can return to timetable by the end of the year.”
