Bushrangers’ wicketkeeper Seb Gotch and all-rounder Jackson Koop are hosting the Diamonds in the Bush clinics in Hamilton.
Victoria’s high performance manager, Tim McCaskill, will coach the male participants, while Neil Gray will lead the female players as Cricket Victoria works to unearth hidden talent in the regions.
“It’s tremendous in that the kids can recognise that the elite players are ordinary people who have progressed through the ranks in a similar vein as a lot of the juniors,” Cricket Victoria Western Country regional cricket manager Stephen Field said.
Field said the mental and conditioning aspect of cricket was touched on Monday before a skill session in the afternoon.
“The kids were taken through physical preparation session with Adrian Mott, who is Victoria’s head strength and conditioning coach,” he said.
“There’s a focus on drills and game play type stuff as well, but we’ve emphasised fielding this year too.”
