Timothy Stewart, 33, of Dutton Way, did not apply for bail when he appeared in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court. He was remanded in custody to appear in the Ballarat Magistrates Court.
He was already facing charges in the Ballarat court relating to a family violence incident and was charged with theft from a shop and breaching his bail earlier this week.
Magistrate Peter Mellas remanded Mr Stewart in custody and among custody management issues noted that there were concerns about Mr Stewart's mental health.
