A head count revealed East Warrnambool had a 19th player on the ground against Dennington in the first term of their under 14 clash.
The Warrnambool and District league will investigate the matter and decide whether or not to impose a penalty.
It was the third head count in a Warrnambool and District junior match this season.
AFL Western District operations co-ordinator Jason Moloney said common sense would prevail.
“The rules of the game say you take points off,” he said.
“We look at it with a practical approach – was it an inadvertent mistake?”
