Warrnambool police are hosting the session from 9am to noon on Viaduct Road, with officers on hand to offer advice on all forms of car safety.
Senior Constable Peter Hunter said it was an opportunity for motorists to bring their cars along and receive advice on any vehicle issues.
“No fines will be issued,” he said.
“As it is winter, we want safer vehicles and safer roads.”
He said police would help motorists make plans to rectify any issues if major defects were observed.
The visual inspection will include looking over tyres, windscreens, brakes and lights.
“We can provide feedback and we want to work with the public to have safer vehicles,” Senior Constable Hunt said.
“Winter can be a dangerous time, and we want to reduce serious injury collisions and fatalities.”
The road toll on Victorian roads is currently 121, 23 less than last year.
