Jodielee Collings, 37, of Hoddle Street, Warrnambool, pleaded guilty in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court to possessing a weapon at the court.
She was convicted and fined $500.
Police said information was relayed to the watchhouse keeper at the police station on April 10 that Collings had a knife at court.
Five police officers converged on the waiting area outside courtroom one where Collings was sitting.
A sergeant asked her if she had anything in her handbag and Collings admitted she had a knife to give to a solicitor.
A 35 centimetre stainless steel knife was wrapped in a T-shirt in her handbag.
Collins told officers she had a telephone conversation with her partner who was being held in police custody and he requested Collings give the knife to his solicitor.
The police officer in charge of that investigation said the knife had no evidentiary value in Collings' partner's case.
Magistrate Cynthia Toose said there was a wide range of people who attended court and it was a very serious offence to bring a weapon to the court house.
She said Collings was now aware that such an action was completely unacceptable.
