The 19-year-old was nominated for a breakout effort in the Lions’ 60-point loss to Greater Western Sydney on Saturday.
McCluggage managed 19 possessions, eight marks and two marks to emerge as a shining light in the round 12 loss.
It was just his 10th senior game at AFL level.
The 186cm midfielder was Brisbane’s first selection and third overall in the 2016 AFL National Draft.
McCluggage, whose family farms near Allansford, burst onto the scene as one of the nation’s hottest draft prospects last year, winning a Morrish Medal (TAC Cup league best-and-fairest) averaging 27 disposals and six clearances.
He also kicked 25 goals.
McCluggage played junior football with Allansford in the Warrnambool and District Football Netball League.
