West’s strike salvaged a point in the 92nd minute of play against a young Buninyong side at Jones Oval on Sunday afternoon.
Warrnambool dominated the clash, but fell victim to a free kick in the eighth minute.
A deflected goal just three minutes later meant Rangers were two goals in arrears, before Rob Andrews (52nd minute) and West netted.
Rangers coach Cameron Pyke said his team deserved a point after producing season-best soccer.
“After the 15 or 20 minute mark, we really dominated the game. We played some of the best football we’ve played for the season,” he said.
“I don’t know if that was freedom, or what it was. We worked the ball so well from attack to defence, but just couldn’t capitalise on our chances.” Rangers play Sebastopol next Sunday.
