Victoria Police have warned that while the validity of fines issued by the red light and speed camera at the intersection of Raglan Parade and Mahoneys Road is investigated, the camera is still operational and fines could be imposed.

The camera is one of hundreds throughout Victoria whose operations are being investigated following the discovery that nearly 100 were infected by a computer virus.
Victoria Police acting deputy commissioner Ross Guenther said while hundreds of fines issued this month by cameras affected by the virus had been withdrawn, those fines could be re-issued if the investigation found the cameras were operating correctly.
“I am confident the fines are likely to stand,” Acting Deputy Commissioner Guenther said last week.

Victorian police minister Lisa Neville has been reported as saying the source of the computer virus was a USB stick used by an outside contractor who did maintenance on all the state's cameras.
