A week after replacing Dennington atop the Warrnambool and District ladder with a two goal win over the Dogs, the Blues won by the same margin – this time a 44-42 win against coach Steph Townsend’s former club, Old Collegians.
There were never more than five goals separating the teams in a game that went down to the wire at Davidson Oval.
“It was a little bit tighter than I would’ve liked, (but) it was a really good match,” Townsend said.
“Collegians put a lot of pressure on us and forced us to not play our best game of netball.”
The Blues coach lauded both team’s defenders, who stood up to the test against quality goalers. Nirranda goal keeper Stacey Graham continued to adapt to her new role alongside Katie Ryan in the Blues’ defence, in the absence of Lisa Anders.
