Results of the 2017 community satisfaction survey will be presented at the Moyne Shire Council June meeting in Port Fairy on Tuesday night.
This report shows the overall performance rating of council has risen from 57 in 2016 to 61 for this year. The large rural shire average is 54. On the question of the conditions of sealed roads in the shire, the Moyne rating has risen from 33 to 36.
But that still lags behind the state average satisfaction level of 43.
In her report, which will be presented to council On Tuesday night, Moyne Shire manager of organisational development Susie Kewley said the figures were somewhat skewed.
“The poor result is not representative as the tailored question in this year’s survey revealed that 65-70 per cent of road related issues were concerning state or neighbouring council managed roads,” Ms Kewley said.
“It is clear from these results that we need to continue our efforts in educating the community about responsibilities for VicRoads as opposed to council roads.”
Other results include community consultation (58), advocacy (57), making community decisions (59) and customer service (66).
The independent survey was completed by 400 randomly selected residents aged over 18.
Other items up for discussion at the council meeting will include an extension on a planning permit for land in King Street, Koroit, a Mortlake Tea Tree Lake masterplan, submissions on the 2017-18 budget and the presentation of a petition relating to trees in James Street, Port Fairy.
