The Gallery nightclub will not open on Saturday night for revellers as the owners plan a revamp.
Owners Susie and Darryl Porter, who also own the Whalers Hotel, bought The Gallery in 2012. Last Saturday a post on the venue’s Facebook page said the nightspot would be closed for the night.
“There’ll be more and more updates on our Facebook page,” Mrs Porter told The Standard.
More than 300 comments were posted on The Standard’s Facebook page on Friday, disappointed at the venue’s temporary closure.
Wally Lynch said his favorite memory was playing there when they had live bands on a Thursday night.
For Melanie Byham a favorite memory was meeting her husband at The Gallery in 1992 when they were at university. Sharon Kenna said saddles for bar stools was a memory from going out at the nightspot.
May Races week was also mentioned as a highlight by Neita McKenzie.
In 2014 the Gallery was extended to include an additional bar and court yard. Prior to the sale in 2012, former owners Alison Bonjer and Paul Blain owned the nightclub for almost 25 years.
