Friends of Pallisters Reserve secretary Margaret Whitehead said 20 of the attendees also became members and some would volunteer at the Masons Road site.
“We are always planting grasses or trees,” Mrs Whitehead said. “Weed control takes a bit of time and there’s the maintenance of the bush tracks. We mow them a couple of times a year so people can find their way. It’s a big property and there’s always something to do.”
Open day activities included bush walks, bird observing, plant identification, water quality testing, sensor camera use, seed collecting, propagation and revegetation.
She said the day was funded by the Glenelg Catchment Management Authority and Victorian Landcare grants as part of its 30th anniversary celebrations.
