Stawell Athletic Club committee member Kate Williamson, who is involved with the Warrnambool Gift, was announced as Lachy Patterson’s successor on Tuesday.
Williamson said her passion for sport has driven her to move her career into the sporting industry.
“I’m really excited to be given the opportunity to be in this role,” she said.
“It’s based in the town I live in and it’s a really vibrant sporting area, so I’m looking forward to getting started.
“I’m really looking forward to getting to work with everyone and ensure the commission supports its clubs, leagues and umpiring groups as effectively as possible, and bring a fresh perspective to the role.”
AFL Western District commission chairperson Greg Wood welcomed Williamson’s appointment.
“She has had a vast amount of management experience both locally and internationally, which will help lead the strategic direction of the commission moving forward,” he said.
Williamson will start in the role from July 24.
