Four hospitality trainees are delivering food service to its Warrnambool residents, a role traditionally carried out by personal care workers.
Lyndoch CEO Doreen Power said the initiative with WestVic Staffing Solutions was a pilot project that aimed to give job-seekers valuable workplace experience while allowing personal care workers to focus on their jobs.
David Stevenson, who had been out of the workforce for nine years as a sole parent, is enjoying the work. “I like being part of the culture here,” he said.
Westvic Staffing Solutions chief operating officer Wayne Robertson said it had been working closely with employers to identify job opportunities and prepare jobseekers for those roles.
